Hello, I invite you to follow me along the Seine, quai Guilbaud, in Caudebec-en-Caux. Let’s make the most of it and admire the light reflected on the river. The mist is present, and we can see a swan in the distance, letting itself be carried by the waves, like a painting. No wonder so many Impressionist painters chose to set up their easels here.
A huge boat, then two, passes just a few metres from us… impressive! No?

Here we discover the hidden secrets of this river, there the transformations made to make it navigable, and there on this screen, the phenomenon of the tidal bore and over there the profession of Seine pilots, and the leisure activities around its tormented then gradually tamed waters.

But come to think of it, maybe you’re interested in art? You know what? Just for you, the museum has developed a new tour on the theme of Impressionism.

As I told you earlier, Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Eugène Boudin, and many others were fascinated by the Seine, whose constantly moving reflections they translated into their paintings. What’s more, if you like, there’s an easel on the quayside where you can learn all about Impressionist painting. Impressionist painting requires a great deal of technique, and plays above all on the effects of light. The light on the Seine is never the same, so we get a different view every day. Our creativity overflows and we let ourselves be carried away by the beauty of the landscape! But it’s already time to leave… Let’s set sail for the pontoon and get back on the road to new adventures!
